The Transport View window

To control temporized reproduction, the Transport View window contains the classical buttons, which have been widely used by the most famous MIDI sequencing software.
Under the field that indicates the current temporal location, which can be set to milliseconds or frames in the Preferences window, we find, from right to left:

the Record button: for the recording of the coordinates coming from an external controller;
the Play button: to start the playback;
the Stop button: to stop the playback;
the Forward button: for faster playback;
the Rewind button: to set the current temporal location to a position preceding the one that is visualized;
the Go To Zero button: to go back to the beginning of the scene;
the Slave external sync button: to synchronize the playback by means of an external MIDI Time Code signal. Note that, while this button is pressed, the Play button does not work, and playback starts only when the chosen MIDI port receives an input MIDI Time Code signal.
Selecting the small button down left you can access directly the SMPTE part of the Preferences window..
